Zoho Mail outgoing mail server:

Zoho Mail SMTP settings at a glance
| Outgoing (SMTP) host | smtp.zoho.com — smtp.zoho.eu for EU accounts, smtp.zoho.in for India, smtp.zoho.com.au / .jp / .ca for those regions |
|---|---|
| Ports & encryption |
465 — SSL/TLS (recommended by Zoho)587 — STARTTLS |
| Username | your full Zoho address, e.g. you@yourdomain.com |
| Password | the account password, or an application-specific password when two-factor authentication is enabled |
| Authentication | Generate app passwords at accounts.zoho.com → Security → App Passwords. The data-center host must match where your account lives, otherwise authentication fails even with correct credentials. |
How to set up Zoho Mail SMTP
- Zoho Mail → Settings → Mail Accounts → make sure IMAP/SMTP access is enabled for the account.
- With 2FA on, create an app password in accounts.zoho.com → Security → App Passwords.
- App settings: host smtp.zoho.com (or your region's host), port 465 SSL/TLS (or 587 STARTTLS), username = full address, password = app password.
- Send a test from the same From address as the account.
Sending limits
- Free and Mail Lite plans have low daily caps per user (Zoho documents limits per plan; free-plan organisations are limited to tens to a few hundred messages per day) and per-hour caps against burst sending.
- Zoho enforces that the From address is the authenticated account or a configured alias — otherwise 553 Relaying disallowed.
- Transactional application mail is what Zoho ZeptoMail is for; Zoho Mail SMTP is meant for human mail.
Things that catch people out
- Using smtp.zoho.com for an account hosted in the EU data centre fails: use smtp.zoho.eu.
- Group/alias addresses need "Send mail as" configured before they work as From.
Common Zoho Mail SMTP errors
| Server reply | Meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
553 Relaying disallowed | From address is not the authenticated account or an allowed alias. | Send from the login address, or add the alias in Zoho and verify it. |
535 Authentication Failed | Wrong password, wrong regional host, or 2FA without an app password. | Use the region host and an app password. |
550 Daily sending limit exceeded / Rate limit exceeded | Plan cap reached. | Upgrade the plan or move automated mail to a relay. |
More codes: 535 authentication failed, 550 relay denied, 554 rejected as spam, connection timed out — or all SMTP error codes.

Zoho Mail SMTP — questions
smtp.zoho.com for US-hosted accounts; smtp.zoho.eu, smtp.zoho.in, smtp.zoho.com.au, smtp.zoho.jp or smtp.zoho.ca depending on your data centre. Port 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS).
Only when two-factor authentication is enabled on the account — then normal passwords are refused and you must generate an application-specific password.
