How to set up Namecheap Private Email SMTP
- Namecheap dashboard → Private Email → create the mailbox.
- App settings: host mail.privateemail.com, port 465 SSL/TLS, username = full address, password = mailbox password.
- Verify MX (mx1/mx2.privateemail.com), SPF (include:spf.privateemail.com) and DKIM in your DNS.
Sending limits
- Private Email caps sending per hour and per day (in the low hundreds per hour) and forbids bulk mail.
- Shared hosting: cPanel hourly limits set by Namecheap (roughly 200 per hour) and outbound port 25 blocked.
Things that catch people out
- If the domain's DNS is not at Namecheap, the records must be added manually where the DNS is hosted.
